History

“The ATX Review”, a contemporary and vibrant e-magazine based at The University of Texas at Austin, serves as a dynamic platform for students to unleash their creativity across diverse mediums.

Started in 2021 by Gracie Warhurst, the magazine was born from a vision of inclusivity and accessibility. Warhurst envisioned a creative space devoid of rigorous and competitive application processes, welcoming every student to contribute and craft their artistry.

Since its inception, the ATX Review has witnessed a remarkable evolution. What began as a small circle of 10 members, primarily Warhurst’s close friends, has flourished into a dynamic team of 40. This team comprised of contributors, editors, and designers works in harmony, each member playing an integral role in the magazine.

Issue Process

Theme

Every issue, leadership comes together to narrow down 2 themes and create corresponding vision boards based on those themes. Then, members vote on which theme they would like that issue of the magazine to be.

Submissions

Once the theme is chosen, a deadline is assigned for contributors, regardless of membership to the magazine, to submit content. If you can find a way to digitize it, we will allow it to be submitted and published.

Edits

Our phenomenal team of editors, under the guidance of our talented Managing Editor, goes in and corrects all written pieces for grammar, spelling, clarity, flow, and more.

Of course, creative integrity of the piece is upheld the entire time to maintain the values intended to be presented by the original author.

Design

What’s a magazine without a beautiful layout?

Once all submissions are received and edited, our amazing design team and lead goes in and creates an outline for what the issue will look like based on a number of factors, primarily the theme.

No fonts, colors, or aesthetics are spared in this process!
